The Division of Public Safety responded to 24 Spring Fling related incidents this year - down from 28 last year.

The incidents included 19 hospitalizations, two arrests and three investigations, according to DPS officials. There were no loud party disturbances this year.

Both arrests were students cited for disorderly conduct.

"Overall, we think that Spring Fling went well," said Vice President for Public Safety Maureen Rush. "Unfortunately, we are disappointed that excessive drinking continues to be the biggest problem associated with this event, despite all of the preventative measures that are put in place," she added.

Hospitalization incidents increased by one from last year.

All other types of incidents were down this year. There were three disturbances and four arrests last year.

"The overconsumption of alcohol to the point that requires hospitalization is concerning, and we hope that students will realize the dangers associated with alcohol abuse," Rush said.
