News Brief: June sentencing date set for Robb

A sentencing date has been set for former Economics professor Rafael Robb, who pleaded guilty in November to killing his wife.
Robb will be sentenced, on June 5 in the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
Robb's wife, Ellen, was found bludgeoned to death inside the couple's Upper Merion home on Dec. 22, 2006.
Robb, 57, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter - defined as a killing committed in a heat of passion - on Nov. 26, 2007. He admitted he had used an exercise bar to beat Ellen Robb to death in a fit of rage.
At the time of his plea, Robb said the couple was fighting about whether their daughter would return from a vacation in time to return to school.
Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor - who is now a Montgomery County commissioner - has previously stated that he plans on asking for a "substantially" stiffer sentence than the 4 1/2 to 6 year sentence called for by Pennsylvania guidelines.
Robb waived his right to be sentenced within 90 days of his guilty plea. He is awaiting sentencing at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
