Jared Miller
The Penn Police department will begin its re-accreditation process next weekend.
A team of assessors from a national accreditation agency will come to campus to examine the department, which is currently responsible for 116 fully-sworn police officers headed by a chief of police.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will check the department's policy and procedures, management, operations and support services, police officials said in a press release.
As part of the accreditation, community members will be allowed to provide comments at a meeting held at the department headquarters next Monday at 7 p.m.
Penn Police has been accredited by CALEA since 2001. Re-accreditation occurs every three years.
