Ma to replace Micahnik
With David Micahnik retiring after 35 years at the helm of the Penn fencing program, the Athletic Department thought it was in for a difficult search to replace him. It turns out it didn't have to look very far. Yesterday, director of athletics Steve Bilsky named Andy Ma the new head coach of the Quakers' men's and women's fencing teams. READ MORE

(News) Yesterday morning, a lucky group of children, parents and campers came face-to-face with some of nature's most frightening animals and emerged from the experience as knowledgeable as they were unscathed. "Animals with Bad Reputations," presented by the Academy of Natural Sciences' "Academy on the Go," was the first event in the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology's Summer Wonder 2009 series of programs. video

Gary Kao incorrectly administered prostate cancer procedures at VA Medical Center
(News) An investigation into radiation treatments for prostate cancer at the Philadelphia Veteran Affairs Medical Center indicated that substandard care administered by Gary Kao, a physician and Radiation Oncology professor under contract from the Penn School of Medicine, may have affected about 92 patients. (News) The doctor accused of misconducting 92 veterans' prostate cancer treatments took the stand Monday in a hearing of the U.S. Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee held at the Philadelphia Veterans' Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Gary Kao, a Penn Medicine radiation oncologist, admitted to his errors but defended the standard of care his patients received. (3 ) video
